You feel worthless. We've all been there. At least I think you have (if you haven't, I would leave to hear your secret!) Every single one of us has felt worthless at at least one point in life. The question I want you to ask yourself is "Why?" Today we will cover three possible reasons for feeling worthless.
You've done it, you're not proud of it, and you can't forget it. As much as we try to forget the bad moments in our past, those moments continue to remain a part of who we are. We can't just move on no matter how much we want to. You may not see it today, and you may not see it tomorrow. It may be years until you are finally able to open your eyes, but God has something beautiful for your life.
You know you shouldn't be doing it, but you do it anyway. I've been there, I am there! It's the rut you're stuck in, the habits you have formed that you know are wrong. We get so accustomed to doing things our way that we absolutely refuse to change, even when we know we should. The Holy Spirit will convict us of sin, and sometimes that conviction can lead to feelings of guilt on our part. However, the feelings of worthlessness are not from God. So what do we do? Stop it! It really is that simple. It's time for us to take everything in our life that is separating us from God, and get rid of it. Tear it, cut it, uproot it, rip it out of our lives. Getting right with God, and cleansing your life is vital for you in finding your worth.
Sometimes when I think of my future, it's almost impossible for me to imagine a 'happily ever after' life. Maybe you have felt the same way at times. After all you've been through, how could your future possibly be any better? There is so much that we don't see... I absolutely love 1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." There is so much promise in that verse, so much hope. Your future is unimaginably beautiful!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this article. The content I shared in this post is based solely off my personal experiences, and the what helped me personally get through them. I hope that it can be a blessing and encouragement to you. Over the next few weeks I will continue to explore the subject of worth and worthlessness, make sure to check back for Part 2: What do you do when you feel worthless?
